I can see the attraction of Dahab. It may not have the glitz of Sharm El-Sheikh but that is exactly the point.
This is the type of beach resort we've seen all over. It's not unlike Sihanoukville or San Juan del Sur. It's the cheap alternative to discovered beaches. It is either full of international college-aged youth, die-hard scuba divers, or the dreaded (hair), post-hippie beach-bum types. It's the type of place that sells Mojitos. Jimmy Buffet should be playing from worn speakers. In summary, it is the type of beach place we like.
Unfortunately due to the tourism slump and the end of the season, it is pretty much empty. I'd surely like to see the place in full swing. Right now, the pool pictures are at our hotel, the Octopus Gardens Hotel. We have a/c, a fridge, and television all for just $17 a night. It's pleasant and if we had an extra month it might be worth staying longer.
However, we will most probably arrange to catch a ferry to Jordan tomorrow. That will mean going north to Nuweiba tomorrow morning and catching a ferry to Aqaba. We've not confirmed anything yet. We're still by the pool.
PS. The pills worked and I feel fine.
